Betsy Platkin Teutsch

Betsy Platkin Teutsch, although originally born in North Dakota, currently resides in the Mt. Airy section of Phiadelphia with her husband and two children. Her groundbreaking creativity, exquisite design, preeminent lettering, and wide-ranging Judaic knowledge make her an important figure in the contemporary Jewish renaissance.

Teutsch is known for her captivating ketubot, ceremonial objects, and book illustrations. Her art in Strassfeld's classic ''The Jewish Holidays'' is widely admired. For the last decade, the acclaimed Reconstructionist prayer book series ''Kol Haneshamah'' has featured her liturgical calligraphy and illumination.

In addition to being a Judaica artist, Teutsch is a writer and activist concerned about improving the lives of global women and promoting affordable paths out of rural poverty.
