Silhouette Ketubah by Daniel Azoulay
This lovely composition combines the symbols of beauty and grace with that of abundance and fertility, against a background suggestive of our journey in life and the strength that the bride and groom derive from their union enabling them to journey together.
Vitality and excitement abound in the Silhouette Ketubah. A wreath of intertwining foliage and tulips (in Persia, giving a tulip was considered a declaration of love) is woven together in the rhythms of Spring: a spirited dance of organic growth. The beauty of the ketubah is enhanced by an emphasis of its contours, accomplished through a careful juxtaposition of the paper cut’s multicolored layers. Though just a hint of the underlying color cut is perceived, together the layers create a lovely harmony of tonal hues. The words taken from Hosea, and Ani Ledodi Li/I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved is mine from Song of Songs 6:3, form an outer ring, encircling the Silhouette’s text and artwork and completing it.
