The National Mah Jongg League, founded by Jewish women in 1937, helped standardize American rules and raise funds for Jewish and other charities. Over generations, Mahjong evolved into more than just a game—it became a cherished ritual, a bridge between friends, and a symbol of Jewish-American domestic and cultural life.
