"There" Large Blue Yad w/Laurel Wreath by Anna Boothe
Anna’s pieces are individually cast using the pate de verre method, and most objects are one-of-a-kind. Each piece is formed using the lost-wax casting process, a technique most commonly employed to cast metal. Pate de verre is a glass casting technique coined in 19th C. France and is defined by the selective placement of colored glass particles in molds, melted in a kiln, and cut, ground, and polished, resulting in a translucent glass form. Anna's work is complete when the glass holds the light and glows from within.
Ms. Boothe has taught at the Tyler School of Art and universities and glass schools worldwide. Her pieces have been awarded "Best of" by the Smithsonian, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the American Craft Council.
Each collectible yad is destined to become a treasured family heirloom.
